Steward Of The Month
This month's Steward is none other than our own George McCandless!
Georgena McCandless (or, "George" to most of you!) has been working with the Diocese of Rockville Centre for over 20 years. Originally tasked with keeping an accurate inventory of materials, shipping, maintaining an up-to-date database, and creating space for a stewardship library, it wasn't long before she began reading (Bishop's Pastoral on Stewardship), then listening (International Catholic Stewardship Council tapes) and finally viewing DVD's on stewardship's rapidly growing connections to parish life in dioceses across the country but especially in RVC!
A member of St. Kilian's parish in Farmingdale since 1977 and a life-long Catholic, Stewardship spirituality resonated strongly. Georgena shared that "practicing Stewardship fostered a sense of gratitude for my God-given gifts to be used in service both to my parish and the wider community."
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, it is easy to see how Georgena has used her gifts and is a Pillar of service to her family and community.
Recently Georgena was on medical leave (brand new knee!) but she is back and willing to help you any way she can.
God bless you, George, for all you do for stewardship on Long Island!
