Stewards Of The Month
Our Stewards of the month are the parishioners of St. Martin of Tours, Amityville.
St. Martin of Tours parish held their own Stewardship Parish Day at the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception. We thank them, and their parishioner Mary Buschman, for holding this wonderful event and for sharing the story with us.
In Mary's words:
The day began with Morning Prayer led by Deacon Larry McPartland. This was followed by our keynote speaker, Sr. Mary Alice Piil. She spoke about our Baptismal call to ministry and service and highlighted the 4 pillars of Stewardship.
Following a brief coffee break, speakers broadened the 4 pillars: Deacon Mike Aprile on hospitality, Sr. Marie Josee on service, Deacon Rick Ferri on formation, and Deacon Larry on prayer. Afterward, there was time for us to visit stations set up with take-away materials and to get more information on ministry, resource and service opportunities and to interact with each other.
Our music director, Peter Schubart, then did a presentation about the role of the choir in liturgy and even got us all to "warm up" and sing! Mass was celebrated in the beautiful chapel, with our adult and children's choirs and Peter's family as instrumentalists.
We then went out to the barbecue area where our Knights of Columbus prepared our lunch. There were activities for children and a good time to socialize and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Our pastor, Fr. Gordon, then led an extensive tour of the Seminary. All were very pleased with the day and the unique experience we had of enrichment and growth.
